SCF has welcomed several improvements to the next round of the Future Farming Investment Scheme, including a higher 60% intervention rate for island businesses.
However, serious concerns remain about how applications will be scored and whether crofters, small-scale producers and common grazings committees will have fair access to funding.
Most crofters who applied in the previous round were unsuccessful, despite many meeting several of the government’s stated priority criteria.
SCF is calling for:
• fair distribution of funding across Scotland
• a transparent scoring process that gives crofting applications a genuine chance
• eligibility for common grazings committees
• clear guidance on which items are supported through FFIS and CAGS
FFIS must support every part of Scottish agriculture, not leave crofters and small producers at the back of the queue.
