The Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) has welcomed the interim outcome of the review of the Croft House Grant Scheme and praised the Scottish Government for listening to, and acting on, the advice given.
“We have campaigned long and hard to have the croft house support scheme reviewed”, said the Chair of the SCF, Fiona Mandeville. “It was already falling behind inflation back in 2004 when the loan element was dropped and it became a grant-only scheme. Since then it has never been reviewed; and so was seriously devalued. On top of that it was not being targeted to those who really need it – young crofters.”
