The Crofters Commission‘s decision to ignore local opinion and approve the creation of three new crofts on poor quality land on the Isle of Skye has been condemned by the Scottish Crofting Federation. The three new crofts are being created by the Clan Donald Lands Trust on land near the township of Achnacloich in the parish of Sleat in the south of the island. Locals have said that the new crofts are in boggy ground that lies on a floodplain.
