The Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) has submitted its response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on Land Use Strategy.
SCF Chair Eleanor Arthur said, “There is not much new about the Strategy, but its vision of thriving and sustainable rural communities and economies is one that we would all aspire to. However, it will only succeed if it is accompanied by innovative policies and new, joined-up thinking across all levels of government and its agencies. The vast land resource that we have in crofting tenure has huge food production capacity, but is also capable of sustainable development for renewable energy, forestry, recreation and affordable housing.”
