A new briefing on the Crofting Reform (Scotland) Bill has been published. The Bill was introduced in the Parliament on the 9 December 2009. This briefing has been prepared for Members of the Rural Affairs and Environment Committee, which is the lead Committee on the Bill. The briefing introduces crofting with some facts and figures; presents a timeline of the 120 years of crofting law and describes the main points of crofting law as they stand; outlines the stages leading up to the present Bill: the Committee of Inquiry on Crofting, the Scottish Government’s response, and the Draft Bill consultation; and describes the provisions of the Bill, part by part.
