The Scottish Crofting Federation is running a series of practical training courses for people interested in developing rural skills throughout the Crofting Counties. The courses are aimed at aspiring, new and existing crofters and small holders and are funded with support from the Scottish Government’s Skills Development Scheme and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
The first batch of courses in the Inverness area include Polytunnel Growing on 26th July, Habitat Management for Birds on 23rd August and a 2 day Dry Stone Walling in late August. These are all important skills to develop and preserve in rural, crofting areas. They will be tutored by experts in their field, giving participants a start in understanding the fundamentals of each technique.
