Angus Macleod Lecture – The Future of Crofting

Subject: ANGUS MACLEOD LECTURE: THE FUTURE OF CROFTING – THE CASE FOR CROFTING TENURE

The 4th Angus Macleod Memorial Lecture which takes place on Thursday 25 October (7.30pm, Pairc School, Gravir, South Lochs, Lewis) is this year being given by Brian Wilson under the title 'The Future of Crofting – the Case for Crofting Tenure'.

The Angus Macleod lecture is in honour of the late Angus 'Ease' Macleod MBE of South Lochs, Lewis, who was largely responsible for revamping the Scottish Crofters Union in the mid-1980s. He left a large quantity of books, papers, photos, and recordings which are now preserved in the Angus Macleod Archive,,jointly run by The Islands Book Trust (of which I am chairman) and the Pairc Historical Society. More details about the Archive and previous memorial lectures are on www.theislandsbooktrust.com
