Local Crofting Network to be Strengthened

A successful Crofters Commission conference in Inverness concluded today with an agreement to revitalise the network of local Crofting Assessors, who assist the Commission with local crofting matters. The conference had focused on resolving uncertainty on the role and function of assessors and providing a clear vision for the future. Speakers included a number of assessors and new entrants to crofting.

LFASS Payment Offers Opportunity to get Scheme Right

The announcement by Rural Affairs Minister Ross Finnie to make a one-off additional payment to cover borrowing costs incurred on account of the delayed payment of Less Favoured Areas Support next year was given a cautious response by the Scottish Crofting Foundation today.

SCF Welcomes Committment on Crofting Support

Scottish Crofting Foundation Chairman, Norman Leask today welcomed a commitment from the Scottish Executive on the future of support schemes for crofts and small farms in the Highlands and Islands. Crofting support schemes will remain separate from the Land Management Contract mechanism.
