Hi, my father in law has a croft, there are no animals on it just now......
I use a small bit of one field for storage, I would like to put up a storage shed on part of one field, Do you know the best way to go about it.......Does there neet to be animals on the croft before i can put up a shed..........Any advice would be great, thanks

Hello Derek. Well judging by the crofts within a 200 mile radius of where I live you certainly dont need to have livestock to get a grant to build a shed or get an apportionment, infact it seems all you have to do is say you are thinking about getting them but cant do it until the sheds up and,same with the apportionment, and away you go ! Sorry to sound tounge in cheek but thats generally what happens as far as I can see, there are sheds so big that you could have the Vatersay Boys play in them and theyve never seen a cow or a sheep and never will. So no worries if you need a shed.
